The Purpose of IBBC Existence: Fulfillment of the commission and the basis of Good Works

The purpose of the International Bible Baptist Church is to implement the Great Commission set forth in Matt 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father...and teach them all that I (Jesus) have commanded you (disciples-stewards of the gospels and/or messages of the teaching of Christ)..." The commission consists of a three-fold commandment1 given to the Local Church to guard, to disperse to all who want to listen and to equip them of becoming a faithful servant.

Jesus Christ, as head of the church, established these commissions for all stewards of the church: Discipleship2 which promotes the gospel of the relationship of mankind to God; Baptism3 which symbolizes the commitment of man to God's instructions; and Endowment which means teaching all believers to observe4 all things Christ commanded and equipping all members of the body of Christ to serve the Lord faithfully preparing them to His second coming. With the fulfillment of these commissions, a believer becomes a person useful to the accomplishment of God's work. A dedicated and useful worker to achieve the remaining tasks Christ left for the church to fulfill until the end of the time. Members of the church believes that after a servant is saved, baptized and taught, he is now endowed and "should be' committed as His workmanship, created in Jesus Christ unto good works. This means that no one can boast of himself for his good works because no man could do God's work by himself. It is only by the grace of God that a faithful servant can deliver God's work. If he is not right in the eyes of God, no amount of good work coming from himself will be considered as God's true work. He specifically emphasized the we should walk in them, which means, to follow good works in the context of what is written in the bible.- Ephesians 2:8-10 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Also in John 14:10-12 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of my self: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that i do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Hence, good works as define in Luke 4:18 is the 'greater works' the church is assigned to:
1.     Preach the Gospel to the poor - The commission
2.     Heal the brokenhearted - The confused,  discouraged and depressed
3.     Preach the deliverance of the captives - those that are addicted to the modern world of vices, habits, promoting ill concept of belief apart from the teachings of Christ, an those who are enslaved to worldly beliefs
4.     Recover sight to the blind - Those who lost the sight of wisdom, insight, good judgment and understanding of your words perpetrated by the influence of the dictates of the world
5.     Set liberty them that are bruised - all victims of human crimes that suffers hurt, pain, hopelessness, deprivation of physical and spiritual needs, deserters of faith because of the doubt in God's grace and mercy, and all those who lost faith in God's power and might.

The programs of IBBC such as Sunday school, Counseling, Youth, Academy and Bible College and others such as Time of Preaching and Tithing, Scheduled teaching, Outreach, Visitation and Evangelization, Local and Foreign Mission works are contributory to the fulfillment of the task assigned to the church. But the main purpose of the Church is embedded in their logo, "A church with a great heart for souls", Church Planting. IBBC's programs were not set to attract people to be fishers of men in terms of quantity but of the dictates of the laws, mandates and ordinances of God. Since the birth of the church, the primary goal is to win back all the souls God lost through Adam and Eve's disobedience.

Included in the mandates of God are two ordinance IBBC practices and perpetuates in remembrance of Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross and His victory over death: Water Baptism3.a&b and The Lord’s Supper. These ordinances will be explained in the future lessons about ordinances.
